Don’t bother asking Andrew Garfield about Spider-Man: No Way Home anymore, as he’s apparently finished with talking about it. It’s understandable why Garfield gets asked so many questions about the movie, given the rumors that will not go away that he is involved in the feature. Rumor is he’ll reprise his incarnation of Spidey from The Amazing Spider-Man alongside Tobey Maguire as his own version from the Spider-Man trilogy.

Back in September, a certain photo made the rounds on social media which seemed to feature all three Spider-Man actors together on the set. At the time, Garfield referred to the image as a “photoshop” on The Tonight Show, refusing to confirm his rumored involvement. In a new Q&A video session for GQ, Garfield was asked about Spider-Man: No Way Home once again, and at this point, he says he’s “done” addressing it any longer.

“This is about this Spider-Men photoshop thing that we talked about on Jimmy Fallon. Listen, at this point… I’m done. We’ll all find out when the movie comes out. And we’ll either be very disappointed, or we’ll be very happy, or someone will say, ‘I told you so,’ another person will say, ‘I told you so.’ We’ll all find out. I’m sorry in advance.”

The apology is given in the event that Andrew Garfield really isn’t in the movie, and given the fan expectations, the actor’s right in that it would certainly disappoint a lot of people. At the same time, if he is in fact in the movie with Tobey Maguire, you have to commend everyone involved for going to such great lengths with the hopes of keeping their big return a secret. It’s the worst-kept secret in Hollywood at this point, but given how much we’ve already seen in the trailers, maybe it’s better to save some of the most anticipated sights for the big screen.

“Listen, I’m not in the film,” Garfield similarly said of the rumors on Today this week. “I love Spider-Man, I always have. I was so happy to have played the part, and I’m so excited to see what they do with the third one, just like you guys are, to be honest. No, that’s not a diplomatic answer. I really, really mean it. I love Tom Holland. I love Jon Watts. I love Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige and what they’ve done with those movies and that character. It’s an important character to me. So I’m just really excited to see what happens in the third one, as you guys are.”

We do know that Spider-Man: No Way Home brings back Jamie Foxx as Electro, the supervillain who previously battled with Andrew Garfield’s Spidey. Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock, Thomas Haden Church’s Sandman, and Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin are also among the Spider-Man villains to be featured in the new trailer. Many fans have speculated that Garfield and Maguire were digitally edited out of the trailer with some evidence of their existence left behind. In any case, all of this is only drumming up more and more excitement for the movie.

Spider-Man: No Way Home will be released on Dec. 17, 2021. This news comes to us from GQ.
